ABOUT
“As a painter, I am passionate about color. Every color and stroke has personality. Color creates perspective- veils and layer upon layer of hues.”
Ksenia Nouril, PhD, Gallery Director and Curator, The Art Students League of New York, says of Bronkar’s work,
“Welcome to the tour deforce that is the art of Marcie Vesel Bronkar. In the expansive, kaleidoscopic presentation of color and pattern, Bronkar plays with rhythms, creating a veritable symphony not only for the eyes but for the heart and mind. Together, they are a definitive statement on abstraction today.”
ARTIST STATEMENT
My Work has always served me as an extension of how I view the things around me.
I find as a modernist in painting that every color holds their load in the composition. My work has always been an extension of how I view the things around– the negative and positive space; the play of forms moving and resting against the light.
Abstraction is the most challenging, allowing the painting to be more important than the idea.
As a modernist I strive to pay tribute to the 20th century masters with their sensitive color vocabulary and brave heart of the process…

ENCAUSTIC SERIES 2026
Experimenting with cloth, paper and fibers, using encaustic as my medium, has resulted in a series entitled “What Remains Beneath the Surface.” How deep can the surface go and what remains unquestioned, and unnoticed… I refer to it as de-constructed beauty.
Having an innate understanding for fabric– how the yarn, weave, texture, surface and finish behave under pressure led me to encaustic. During the process, wax collages resemble the shine and touch as when making English Calendar Chintz- random yarn encased in pulp and wax.
My passion as an abstract expressionist and textile designer has resulted in a place of “paring down to the basics,” creating a compositional tension of parts.
Through a discipline and culmination of a lifetime in textiles and painting, I needed to isolate what matters… to find what remains…
